GRAPHITE DRAWINGS 2011-2012
When creating artwork, I do a lot of drawing. I like to draw on tracing paper, so I can change things up by cutting into the drawing and overlaying sections on top or under. Seeing through the paper allows me to redraw the new image, and trace, and cut, and re-draw again. I do this over and over until I find what feels like the drawing I’m looking for.
Tracing paper, however, does not work well for stand-alone drawings so I was missing doing more straightforward graphite-on-paper work. For this series, I re-drew the final images I had made for my cut-paper pieces just using graphite. I like seeing how they look in a simpler, black and white, format.
